A one-of-a-kind statement necklace from Vaune Mason.
This pendant is hand carved from Cherry wood, and hung from a long sterling silver chain. Vaune's carved animals are drawn from many sketch studies and then carved out of wood, and polished with oils and finished with beeswax. Each carving is completely one-off and takes a huge amount of hand-work.
Total necklace length 90cm including a hook and loop catch. The doe head is 62mm across the ears and 34mm from the back of the head to the nose.
Vaune Mason is based on the Kāpiti coast. Her detailed carved animals are most often reproduced in glowing bronze and silver, and every now and then, in recycled native timbers, stone or bone. Vaune also loves to make beautiful be-jewelled pieces that look worthy of a treasure hunters' hoard.
