The inset cabochons are Mother of Pearl and as the setting has an open back you get to enjoy this beautiful shell from both sides. Each drop is suspended on a hand crafted sterling silver hook. The settings measure 16mm across.
These small round drop earrings are in a signature style from David McLeod. Mother of Pearl is the name given to the inside of the oyster and abalone shells. The beautiful glossy and sometimes iridescent shell is made of a substance called Nacre (say it like Acre).
David McLeod is based in Dunedin, and is a well established contemporary jeweller. His work is characterised by strong and simple design, with a twist of wry humour.
